Integrated Food Waste Disposal Program
Integrated Food waste Processing (IFWP) is a smart Food Processing Waste (FPW) diligence protocol which performs analysis of the FPW generation and its management. This protocol will help in analyzing the amounts and the different streams of FPW being generated or produced in different Food processing industry sectors. It also includes the Data collection and gathering of information on the application of waste management for different types of FPW and the types of practices being followed for their disposal. Many food processing sectors generate FPW which can be recycled or reused for other purpose as value added products and in turn help in indirectly escalating the overall economic value of the FPW produced. Some of the FPW are rich in organic material and hence turn out to be good candidates for recovery via composting or anaerobic digestion. IFWP involves multi-disciplinary efforts-engineering, economics, food science and technology, soil science, and chemistry. FPW for meant for recycling or reuse needs to be treated with proper technologies, which are typically divided into pre-treatment, secondary treatment and advanced treatment. This protocol also helps in evaluating the ways to reuse/ recycle and use FPW as a value-added product instead of just disposing it off.
